SENIORS PROM AFTERNOON FOR THE RESIDENTS AT THE POINTE AT SUMMIT HILLS

On July 28th, 2016 the residents from The Point at Summit Hills were able to relive their high school memories and have a Prom of their very own! The volunteers from the Dreamcatchers clubs and Stockdale Honor Society were able to dress up in formal attire to add to the Prom scene as well as have a beauty table for all of the women that wanted to get their nails and makeup done! There was a beautiful ocean theme throughout the venue, picture perfect for the guests, and the residents happily wore lei given to them as well. As they enjoyed their meal, live music was played and many had a blast dancing along to the beat.

Even a news team was there to document the whole magical night and even interviewed some seniors! The smiles of the residents and excitement in their eyes was the most memorable part of the whole event!

Here are the members of the volunteers from Centennial Dreamcatchers who helped with the fun prom day!

A FOODTASTIC Dream!

It's been a while since the blog has been updated but I would like to share a picture of a dream that was done a couple of months ago! The patient requested all sorts of food and the Centennial DreamCatchers put together a food basket with all sorts of goodies that included tomatoes, avocados, chimichangas, lasagna, m&m's! We also included a pie, barbecue and coconut shrimp! It was definitely a memorable dream and we are extremely happy that the patient enjoyed it!!!

Updates!

Hey guys, it's been quite a while since our last post! Here's some updates on what the Centennial DreamCatchers have been up to recently:

Freshman Orientation!

Back in March, Centennial had their Freshman orientation where we got to meet all the incoming freshmen.  We set up a booth in the cafeteria along with all the other clubs and tried to recruit new members. We had well over 50 signups! Hope they keep interest and get involved in the club!

Dreamcatchers!

Some DreamCatchers from the different clubs came together and made dreamcatchers at Optimal Hospice for their staff appreciation luncheon.

New Officers!

Thanks to everyone that applied for a position and congratulations to the new officers for the 2014-2015 school year-

Co-Presidents: Kirstin Catapang & Nick Rivera
Vice President: Sufiya Manju
Secretary: Hana Ayoub
Treasurer: Aliza Camacho
Historian: Raiam Natividad

End of 2013-2014 School Year!

Well, another year of high school is over.  Here is the DreamCatchers club picture.  These are some of the members that remained active in the club throughout the school year.  Thanks to you all!  We'll definitely be missing our seniors but we look forward to another awesome year!

Potluck!

In May we had our annual DreamCatchers potluck!  Members from all the Bakersfield clubs, as well as Optimal Hospice staff members, came together for some summer fun.  There was food, henna tattoos, games, and lots and lots of water balloons!  It was a great time getting to know everyone and new friendships were made.

Meeting Caitlin!

Caitlin Crommett came down to Bakersfield this month.  She met with all the club presidents, both old and new, to catch up on everything thats been going on.  It was really awesome finally getting to meet her and discussing the future of the DreamCatchers!

Dental Dream!

The presidents of Centennial, Liberty, and Stockdale came together for our first summer dream! The patient is 86 years old and still has all her teeth so we decided to put together a basket with some dental goodies.  It had the basics- toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash, and floss- as well as a fun mouth shaped ice tray and a chart that lets her know her teeth have been brushed for the day! Thanks to those that donated items for the basket!

Birthday Party Dream!

This past weekend the presidents of Centennial, Liberty, and Frontier came together along with some other members for our second summer dream which was an M&M themed birthday.  The patient had never had a large party before so thats what we did for him.  We decorated his home with plenty of balloons, streamers, and candy!  Our treasurer (also known as our designated baker), Aliza, made the specially requested chocolate pie as well as some M&M cookies.  The family and the birthday boy were so darn sweet and I hope the patient had an awesome 46th birthday!

Anyways, thats everything up until today.  Sorry for the lack of posts!  Hopefully everything will be up to date from now on.

On another note- school starts in less than a month!  We'll schedule a training day after the club gets settled with all the new members.

Have an awesome rest of your summer everyone! See y'all soon!

Hi there! I hope you guys are having a good day today :) I have been meaning to post pictures from our last two dreams, but I am just barely getting to it, so I apologize for that! We had a dream on the 8th of October, and it was a spa dream! The patient we were able to take to the spa was an absolute sweetheart, and it was a blast!  The first photo is a picture of the patient Joanne, her nurse, Centennial DreamCatcher's treasurer Kirstin Catapang, and the club's historian Annie Bowen. One of the club's co- presidents, Daxton, was also there. The second photo is Joanne again and her manicurist for the day, Tammy. Joanne also got to enjoy a pedicure and a facial! Special thanks to Paragon Salon and also to everyone who contributed to this special dream!

The club also had a dream on the 13th of October. Both co-presidents, the historian, and a new member of the club were able to plan a very special surprise birthday party at Lifehouse Parkview. The patient, affectionately known as Billie, had no idea that a birthday party was taking place for her in the facility! The first picture is Billie and her brother, commonly called Chief, who came to surprise his sister on her birthday. The bottom picture is Billie and her brother, Annie (historian), Daxton (Co-Pres.), Kate (member) and Karan (Co-Pres.) This dream was also tons of fun for everyone involved, including other patients, Billie's roommate, and nurses.
